Government Grants Could Help Private Medical Practices Expand Access to Care.

The government must provide special start up grants and subsidies to medical practices especially those in underserved communities. Independent medical practices are critical part of our healthcare system but get little or no support from government and its agencies. Grants will reduce the financial burden of starting a practice and facilitate a creation of more small businesses in rural areas. Grants can help practices to offset the costs of equipment, supplies, and other expenses. Starting a practice can be hard and early days are the hardest! Medical practices are highly regulated which make it difficult for Doctors to diversify their services as only approved services can be provided.

Most countries provide their rural medical practitioners with grants. USA has National Health Service Corps (NHSC),The Rural Health Clinic Services (RHC) program and Telehealth Resource Center (TRC) to name just the few. We need to incentivize our practitioners! Those are not gifts, but investments into our healthcare system.

Why should government provide those grants?

  • Improve access to care for underserved populations

  • Support the development of new and innovative medical treatments and technologies

  • Promote quality and safety in healthcare

  • Increase the number of healthcare providers in rural and underserved areas

  • Increase employment

  • Increase tax collection
